Reaping Day: District Views

The Reaping starts off the most exciting event of the year.  Each District gathers to witness who will have the honor of being their Tribute for the Games.

District 1, known for producing many Victors, is a Capitol Favourite.  As soon as a name is chosen, there are immediately a number of volunteers who come forth who wish to bring glory to their District.  These volunteers then stand behind "Winged Victory" to proclaim why they should have the honor of being the year's Tribute.

In contrast to District 1, District 2's Justice Building is devoid of unnecessary embellishments.  Their image is strong, simple, and proud.

The citizens of District 3 are some of the most enigmatic in all of Panem.  Raised from a young age to be technological geniuses, they live much of their lives behind a computer screen, developing somewhat socially inept, yet arrogant personalities.  As for the appearance of their District, cleanliness is notably not a priority, with discarded, obsolete electronics often just being scattered about both inside buildings and out in the streets.

District 4's Justice Building in is the center of a path of beautiful waterways.  The potential Tributes gather on a centuries-old dock to await the moment a name is chosen.

Distict 5, the district that produces the electricity for all of Panem, does not waste any space that could be used for production of this important resource.  Strangely, the high mortality rate of this district does not come from accidental electrocution, but from exhaustion due to working so hard for our Capitol.  Very brave citizens, indeed.

District 6 chooses their Tributes atop a large platform elevator, so even those with the poorest eyesight can see the spectacle.

District 7's reaping occurs in the center of this very large and widespread district.  Families travel many, many miles each year to attend this required event, which takes place on the deck of an historic treehouse.

One would think that District 8 would be decorated with colorful fabrics waving in the wind, but alas, the Capitol's beautiful textiles are not to be wasted.  However, you can occasionally catch glimpses of the rich colors through open doorways and windows of the many productive factories throughout the District.

Not much is known in the about District 9.  Perhaps it is not so much that this part of Panem is mysterious, but because it is rather unnoteworthy.  Flat fields of monochromatic grain stalks sprawl for miles and miles, separated only by uninteresting, straight roads.  With the majority of homes relying on their power from liquid fuel rather than electricity, District 9 seems to live in the distant past.

District 10's Justice Building was recently destroyed in the Rebellion, and reapings now take place in front of whichever stable is most presentable of the year.  10 is considered one of the least desirable districts for Capitol Citizens to visit, due to the inescapable odor of livestock.

It is truly amazing how nature reestablishes dominance when given the chance.  District 11 attempted to emancipate themselves from the true order, and was overtaken by reality.  The Capitol provides for all.

District 12, widely known to have been completely destroyed in the Rebellion, was reestablished with the few citizens remaining, who, having minimal knowledge of construction, still habitate in very damaged buildings that provide a bare minimum of shelter.
